Good LFS's near Chester and Philly

Hi PA!
I'm going to be in Chester PA. for the Schutzhund world Championship for 4 days. Are there any really nice lfs's that shouldn't be missed somewhere btwn Chester and Philly? I'll have at least Sunday and maybe part of another day to go look. Thanks

I'm local to the area, and I don't know of anything between Philadelphia (assuming your flying in) and Chester. The distance is only about 7 miles.

However if your willing to travel a bit there are a few worth considering.

Aquarium Center - http://www.aquariumcenter.biz/hours/index.html I'd call it about a 30 min drive from that area. It's across the bridge in NJ. Plant selection is usually good.

The Hidden Reef - http://fishnews.thehiddenreef.com/index.php/about-us It's about a 45 min drive on I-95 northbound. Some plants.

That Pet Place - http://www.thatpetplace.com/visit-our-retail-store This place is quite a haul, about 1 hour 45 min, but it's a huge operation. Plant selection is usually good.

Regretfully, many of the LFS stores that I remember from years ago have long since gone out of business.

Delaware Premium Aquatics is about 30-40 mins right down 95:

Or you can do a mini-trip and go up to NYC. A TON of LFS's and hobbyists up there.

I did not see you are from Brooklyn. I'm born and raised in Sheepshead Bay but live in Philly now. I drive home to visit practically every weekend!

Are you part of the NYC group on Facebook?

If you do not go to Aquarium Center in South NJ, then you might just shoot up route 95, yes? If so, the Hidden Reef is minutes off of route 95 (exit 40) and you can check out another store called the Fish Factory...The Hidden reef has great hard goods prices( not as good as online but better than most brick and mortar stores). The Fish Factory is just and all around good store to check out- and you need to pass it to get to the Hidden Reef...if you Google it, the HR is in Levittown, PA and the FF is Bristol, PA.

And after you see the prices of fish down here, you'll never shop in North Jersey or NY again. Although, not as many cichlid lovers down here as farther up North..

How did your GS do? I didn't realize or I would have said "Good Luck"

In hindsight, I might have enjoyed seeing this event....Hope you enjoyed Philly...It's not all that - but the people can be nice as long as you keep it real - they can spot fakes a mile away....Hit any LFS?
