Well, jimmy stopped by bill's shrimp hostel last night and brought me some new additions. He brought me a couple of berried green cardinia's and a berried cpo. That brings my total shrimp species to 9, 8 of them being "breedable". Thanks again jimmy!!!

On another note. Any thoughts on when everybody wants to do another meet?

Hey guys,
I yave a ton of carbon laying around i had from way back when, i no its not really needed ina planted tank, but for long term use wont carbon make a good bio media? I have extra space in my fluval, and dont really wana spend $ on more media. So my thinking was since A.C. has lots of micro pores wont that make a good bio media if i leave it in long term?

I'm like 30 mins from northeast. Could I just grab it at the next swap meet? Me, Bill, and Jimmy have to get together at some point for our anubias order...maybe that would be a good time to have the swap meet. Don't know when it will be though. I still need to make the order but I'll know when it will be shortly after that.

lots of debate on this one. i do believe however,, that a.c. will eventually clog since the pores are so small. i use lava rock in all my filters. hob's, canisters, you name it, it has lava rock in it. and at $4 for 50lbs, can't beat the price.

Bill, man i could use some help...
I think i have more algae than actual plants. Everything grows, but not well. Maybe we can hang out some day on a weekend, bring the kids and we will throw em in the pool to keep them entertained. I have every type of algae u can think of, and im running out of ideas on how to fix it. I have plenty of flow, dose EI, but i may have the formula fudged up, co2 is cranked up. I just dont no what else to do.

that sounds like a plan, but first start with a 3 day blackout. remember, algae is still a plant and needs light for photosynthesis, take away that food source for it and it normally dies off. your plants will be fine. remember, they survived a trip in a box to get to you, so they can deal with a few days of darkness. i also stop dosing ferts when i do a blackout. it probably doesn't do anything, but my brain says the plants don't need it when there is no light. let me know how it goes. btw, my shrimp LOVED the algae you gave me on the aromatica
