Aquastar (little Italy one) sells them in a smaller amount (an egg size portion or so) for $1 and they're pretty healthy. VERY easy for me. Put in a Tupperware chines takeout thing with just enough water to cover them. A piece of brown paper towel/leaf and a piece of plant matter (java moss). I don't refrigerate (GROSS) and they do fine. Just put them out of sight in the dark and keep them as cool as possible.

Looking for free easy trimmings. (Pennywort, moss, terrestrial, aquatic, emersed, etc) So PM me maybe.

King's aquarium on 18av and 71st has Pygmy cories for 1.65. I got 2 for $3! Not many left. Get them b4 they are gone. They look really healthy too. In the same tank as the neons as soon as you walk in.

Went in for the Amano's but the were out. still searching.

Argh. Leeches. I hate the buggers. I had some in my tank some time ago, and had to go to great lengths to get rid of them. They were actually killing my fishes.

That place is a few blocks from my house, only went in once and wasn't too happy with what I saw that day. I guess I'll give it another shot.

Not really unfortunately. Like furfins said its not really worth visiting. It's a small shop. But they do have interesting things every once in awhile. They have a tank full of amano 's usually, but they are $4 I was only there because I used to work on 18ave and I was visiting my sister who still works there. I needed amanos and knew they had them there. Just forgot the price. I remember they were small too. Called my local petco and they are getting a shipment tmrw... So my quest continues!

If you are coming to NJ again

FishHut on 46 had dwarf cories in both species when I was there. They also had a tank full of real SAEs. I picked up 4

They also had some weird stuff now, like freshwater flounders and other fishes. Lots of fishes last time I went. And I went at 9:00 at night. Strange to find a pet shop opened to 9:30 - But its great!

Meowkitty,

You can't starve them. They can survive months without feeding.
Your only options are to:
1) catch them all
2) or add a fish that will eat them, like a big loach, oscar, ...
3) or tear down the tank, throw away the substrate, and probably the plants too
4) or use the clout medicine. This will make your tank permanently unsafe for shrimps and snails.

When I got some, I've been lucky option 1) worked for me.

I should probably post this in another thread. -_-

But if that shop does have leeches, I suppose people should avoid it.

Edit: So if it is, I guess I won't be going to any meets for a while. I've lost 2 cory cats, 2 pygmys, a bunch of guppies, and my SAE to this. This is very very very bad. I'm like in tears and trying to figure out how to fix this. I think my 20g is going to have to be cycled fast and house all my fish for about a month to starve out these awful things if that's what it is. I haven't actually seen any. There are very few solutions short of nuking the tank. Will they feast on snails if there are no fish? I want them dead if this is what it is.

Um so yes, don't buy plants from Fishtown USA in Jersey?
I'm so sorry to hear that, I know stuff like that hurts. You need to set up another tank and bathe the survivors (except the corys) in an aquarium salt solution. The leeches will detach and then the fish can go in the clean tank to recover. The old tank should be torn down.

I was talking to acitydweller about it, it was probably not leeches because they were moving too fast to be leeches. Regardless, it was some sort of parasite. It was kind of flat and thin...but egg shaped, and gray in color.
