I live in Astoria too. I was told by employees at several sporting goods stores that there is no where to refill a paintball tanks within the city limits, because of overzealous laws. I think I tried every major sporting goods store in western queens. Now, I just drive out to Long Island to get them filled, which is highly annoying.
I've read that there are places that will swap an empty tank for a filled tank for you, but for larger tanks (10 and 20 pound) not the small CO2 canisters.
I know this is old, but did you try the paintball place in LIC?? They play paintball in there, so they HAVE to refill paintball canisters, but maybe they won't if you're not playing there??
Also, on a separate note, how long does your paintball canister last you, and what size tank do you have it on?
Hey man, Thanks for the for your help. If you are talking about this place they don't do it. What's more they don't use Co2 in their systems. As far as how long they last, I got a half a bottle from Koto's old system and it last me about month and a half. But to be hones I can really tell how much was left in the cylinder.
I don't remember how big are the cylinders, but they were smaller than my. My are 12ounces cylinders, I thinks his are 8ounces.
Actually, if I look around hard enough, I can probally find my 20oz co2 canister from my paintballing days. I don't really want to spend all that money for the all the equiptment to put on a paintball tank, and then find out that I should have done it right and went with a real CO2 tank, and spend all that money again. I'm toying with DYI co2 in my office tank now, and if I really do decide to get into it, then I'm gonna go the whole way and buy everything right the first time.
yeah just stopped by there because i needed some air and also was looking for a closer place to fill my 5# can and yeah they do re-fills. they price by the pound, 5$/lb. not economical if you have a ten lb can or over, but good enough for me as i live close by and my can is 5#. 5$ for a paintball refill is what they quoted. Stingray Paintball ProShop, 762 Grand ST, Brooklyn, NY. its 2 blocks from the Grand ST stop on the L Train. they're open til 6:30 on weekdays and 5:30 i think on saturdays. Tel:718-384-1280. they have to buzz you as the front door is locked, must be a liscence requirement. looks like you might not have to sell your rig! lol.
