I will look into that in the future. I am more interested on the social gathering

I don't know how you construed what I posted as criticism, but whatever...

meetup.com is a place where living people can more easily coordinate
live meet ups with each other in the real world. it's just a lot easier to
deal with than posting on this forum, and playing telephone tag. you
can broadcast events to your groups list, then have individuals remark
on your plans, and confirm their interest in attending, and host a private
forum specific to your membership.

it is NOT intended as a social network like facebook or myspace.

Ok then I'm sorry if I took it out of context

I know. I never ment it to be like facebook or myspace... but alright

I'm just saying I enjoy a nice meeting even if I don't learn anything new.

I only speak for myself, but I feel a local AGA-like group will be cool, regardless the formality of it. I once traded some plants with another NYC member in this forum and it was a pleasant experience.

just my thoughts

PS, if I do my tax with my accountant over a cup of joe in a Starbucks, there is no reason not to meet up with fellow plantedtank fans the same way.

Treasure your ears and they'll serve you well...

Hey did this ever get off the ground? I'd be interested as well. On the topic of meetup.com, I've found it to be a pretty cool way to get people together... right now I'm involved in a surfing meetup as well as one for new puppy owners in brooklyn.

wish list: clown killifish (pseudepiplatys annulatus), shirmp, interesting plants!

tanks: 55g fb hex, 20g long

fauna: res, sae, amano shrimp, red cherry shrimp, pond snails, cardinal tetras

flora: xmas moss, mini moss, pearl grass, dwarf hairgrass, anubias nana petite, amazon sword, duckweed, giant duckweed, banana plant, algae

Hey mikey,

Sorry man, I didn't get this thing going yet. I got back to school with lots of work and lately my grandmother was hospitalized.

I will try to get this thing going ASAP. It may be 2 weeks from now though.

Well I'm going to take the step. I'm starting a New York city Aquarium hobby club. If you are interested send me a PM and i will respond. And if you have any ideas that would be good to just send me a PM. We have to get this started one way or another and i think its now.

There is New York Aquarium clubs already. Just not a Aquatic Gardeners Club or a Aquatic Plant Club.

We need like a NYAGC ,New York Aquatic Gardeners Club

One month in.

Yes i know there are but alot do not relate to alot of the people I know or are to far from the people I know. Some of these aquarium groups you have to be biologist and botanist to be in. And thats for real.

Hey guys I have to really appoligize for the extreme delay. I have been so extremely busy at school that I couldn't even organize one meeting. Its hard when ur the president of the martial arts club and u also have biochemistry plust 3 other sciences. lol

Anyway I am trying to make a meeting soon. Possibly in may the latest. I'll keep u posted.

And to be different from all the other clubs, I want to make this a more advance club. In the sense that it will mostly focus on planted tanks and not natural planted tanks. Although begingers are welcomed and wil sometimes go into that topic.

For the next meeting, I want to focus on plants. If thats fine with everyone, please post here to show that you are interested.

I'm not a doctor in real life but I play one on this forum

looks like someone beat you to it...
http://aquariums.meetup.com/94/
so it might be better to support
this, than start your own group.
most are planted tank interested,
though few are advanced like you.
advanced people tend to go to the
older established aquatic societies
in Brooklyn and New Jersey, or just
use the web to find their peers.
