In case you are unable to get a ride and still want to go what i do is get a 5 gallon home depo bucket and have several blankets in it along with heat packs in between the blankets. This will insure the fish will not get exposed to the extreme temperatures of the outside. Hope this helps!

I bring a bucket on the subway all the time when i am buying fish in extreme weather. People bring far larger things onto the subway and its no problem. As long as you do not place the bucket on the subway floor i dont think they will be exposed to added stress from all the vibrations of the moving train.

He wanted to kill. They weren't allowed to move or he would attack. He's now back at Pacific in a tank with at least 20 other angelfish

Haha, thats too much. Most fish are pretty stronger then you think. But just to make sure acclimate (drip dip) them correctly and your good to go.
