apistos

Thanks. I am actually looking for fellow hobbyists who are willing to supply each other.
Do you have any young ones? I have two, male and possibly a pseudo-female.

I don't unfortunately. Mine had a failed spawning for their first try. I'm sure I'll have some eventually though.

I have a bunch of A agassizi growing out. I don't know how the sex ratio will turn out, though.

apistos group in Brooklyn

Sounds great! Are you willing to part with any? Also, looking to start an apisto group in Brooklyn, apistogramma.net(use it occasionally) is helpful, but local enthusiasits seem to be hiding:-).
Let me know, thanks.

When they're older I'll be glad to part with some. Right now they're a bit young.

Beautiful fish Mr. Limpet! Definitely let us know when they're ready to leave the nest (or in this case, ready to leave your tank).

Thanks for posting the pics. Apistos really are a joy to have, I hope to get to the point of successfully breeding them. My LFS (brooklyn zoo& aquarium) gets them every so often.
Where did you get yours?

I picked them up at Pacific Aquarium in early September. They were tiny & barely sexable at the time, so I ended up with 2 males & a female. They've been spawning like clockwork every 2 weeks or so; I now have young from several different broods growing up together.

Mr. L. Thanks for the info, will need to drive in if I am going to get (this cold spell will turn them into sushi, quickly). Are any of you interested in trying to get the more semi-rare apistos (baenshi, hangsloi, etc.)?
Mike Wise does a fair amount of research on apistos.

Went to Pacific today & was surprised to see that they still had some agassizii in stock. All of them seemed to be females, but then again I thought that the male in the photo was a female at first. He didn't start to male up until I separated him from the dominant male. Apistos are almost impossible to find in this area. Brooklyn Zoo occasionally carries cacutoides & agassizii "fire red", & once they had some awesome panduro. Absolutely Fish in Clifton regularly stocks apistos, but they usually go for 40 or 50 dollars a pair. Aquabid sometimes lists home bred S.A. dwarfs, but lately all they have are rams.
