GCAS Meeting / Auction Wednesday Oct. 2 7:30 PM

This months meeting features Mark Soberman who will be speaking on Keeping and Breeding Corydoras. As always there will be an auction after the talk. Unfortunately at this time it looks like I will not be able to make it. Bummer because i was looking forward to hearing Marks talk. Hopefully some of you can make it.

The Greater City Aquarium Society meets on the first Wednesday of every month (except January and February)
at the Queens Botanical Garden, in Flushing, Queens, NY.
Meetings begin at 7:30 pm.

Each meeting features a guest speaker, an eclectic auction featuring lots of locally bred fish and plants,
a raffle, a doorprize, refreshments, and great fish friends.

Membership in the GCAS is $20,
and includes a subscription to Greater City's award-winning magazine, Modern Aquarium.

All GCAS meetings are free and open to the public.

Lots of great information covering the species, particulars for each type and went into the practices of breeding for the beginner all the way to advanced while categorizing the species. Particularly of interest for our local community, Mark covered breeding for our beloved Pygmae, Hasatus and Habrous which many of us keep. It really was very well done and the auction is always a hoot

I felt after this meeting, we shoudl all give breeding a shot!

There were several varieties of fancy live bearers, windelov ferns, normal java, mosses, naja, hornwort, a red stem plant, and other stuff. I confess to sharing laughs with oz and george a fair bit and missing many items. Certainly many species not available at our LFS are often available through this channel.

Practically everyone from our group with home with something. I scored a school of Bluefin Killifish (Lucania goodei)

Lastly, it was owens81jw's first aquaria event/auction and we were happy to celebrate it with him.

Bummer, that I missed it. Mark had told me at the ECC/MFK convention that he would be doing the talk and I was really looking forward to it. Sounds like it was a very interesting talk. We are very fortunate to have an expert breeder like Mark in our club, and he is always more than happy to talk and answer any questions on the subject of breeding corydoras.

That was fun. and we didnt really miss out on that many auctions at least not with some hardcore people with money to blow taking every other item. It was also my first fish auction as well, glad to experience it first hand on the rocks lol

I'm still upset that I lost out on the "forever plant" package.
