Looking for: small lava rock

Anyone have extra small lava rocks they want to give away? I'm looking for 1 or 2 gallons or so.

Sized like this, preferably.

Usually the hardware stores carrry lava rock, although they are slightly bigger pieces than shown above. There will be bits at the bottom of the bag that size and the rest you will need to put inside a old pillow case and hammer away to make it smaller :-)

Yep! and it's inexpensive, too - I'm going to be buying a bag at Walmart tomorrow, it's only $4 for a big bag in the garden center.

^ Impressive. Our local garden centers and hardware stores aren't carrying any lava rocks in any sizes

Well I work at Walmart, and we just got our first truck for the season of outdoor landscaping materials in yesterday - we only carry these things seasonally. However the Lowes next door carries the lava rock year 'round. If you call and ask, maybe they are expecting the lava rock to come in soon?

i got my lava rocks at home depot. the big bags sold in the garden centers are probably safe, but i didn't want to take the chance with my shrimp so i bought "bbq lava rocks" i thought because they are used to cook food it would be a higher/more safe choice. it was $5 for about a 8lb bag.

This is basically what Eco-complete is but without the "live" stuff that comes in the bag. You can use it as substrate.
