Temp is currently 84* and still slowly climbing, I was under the impression the cories don't like salt in the water at all.
They don't. You can add a little bit of salt to get the salinity up (1.003 SG) but I'd use just the heat method if you want to be safe.

Ich attack works. you need about 4xs the recommended dosage and 2x the dosing frequency though

I know this is a little late, but it may help other people as well. Did you Q.T. your live stock before letting them run? If so how long did you Q. T. them? They should be quarantined for at least 30 days at over 75. A careful eye on them during this period to avoid headaches like this helps. I use to not Q T fish & would get lucky sometimes but more often than not I would get trouble!

Ive been back in freshwater for about a year now and have only had one out break of ick and turning the temp up but I also soaked my fish food in garlic. Thats an ol trick I use to use when I had my reef tank. Turn the heat up feed your fish several times a day with small portions of garlic soaked food. Garlic boost their immune system

Nope no QT tank setup as of yet still have to dig out my old tanks and clean them they are still sitting buried in the back of my garage.
The other issue would be space to setup a QT tank unfortunately space is at a premium until spring then certain items can be discarded freeing up some much needed space.

So far temp is holding at 86* took about 8 hours to get there from 76* going to stop at the LFS to check out what they have for Ick in a few hours and pick up some aquarium salt as well (going to do a bit more research on that). So far one rainbow looks like it has the chicken pox with all the little white dots all over hope it makes it thru the treatment.

Well temp is stable at 87* I couldn't find anything other then copper safe for treating Ick at this point if the plants melt they melt they are easily replaceable I'm more concerned for my fish. Stuff on the box says it's good for a month in the water really hope it doesn't take that long to kill the Ick. I'll be gone for a week so I'll have to have someone else keep an eye on the fish, really hope they all make it.

quick update all visible signs of ick have disappeared from all the fish. I find that a bit odd figured it would take a few more days only treated the tank about 24 hours ago. Still going to keep the temps high for the next week and see how things go.
