Oh I know.....just saying. Ridgewood was a little closer. And I like Fishtown, but I've gotten scuds from there twice! One was from plants.....should have soaked but didn't think I had to because they seemed trustworthy. Second time was actually with cpd's I bought. I was able to isolate the scuds that time, but they are rampant in that place. He just redid all the tanks in the back, so hopefully he got rid of that problem!

It's absolutely not an assumption.

Well if you get fish, you do not need to worry about scuds (aka side swimmers)

Personally, I do like them (even though they can carry parasites\tape worms) but I prefer them because they are good food for my fry and smaller fish (bumble bee gobies (over a year I had a bumble bee goby in my freshwater tank, AND survived 8 days without power during hurricane sandy) - The owner at Fishtown told me they wont last 3 months in fresh water)

I dont have any more, because my RAMS love them....

I hear you, and I normally don't mind them. But that particular tank houses endlers and rcs. The endlers go after them, but it took awhile and the scud population blew up. I also got them in one of my nanos.....the pea puffer loves them!

I live in the same town as this store. go there sometimes to check out their new shipments of plants and fish. Sadly, i can never keep plants alive so i thought i might add a co2 and switch out a lighting.
Are ADA tanks better than petsmart petco tanks

I was in here last weekend, close the book on this store... Just about everything was moved out, any tanks left had half/no water in them.

The person working there said they were moving to a warehouse off the highway of 17 and were going to focus on wholesale and online business. They may open once a month or so to the public.

Thanks for the update, Dave. Just found out about this place but too late unfortunately. Might have been a bit too boutique, even for Ridgewood and its environs. Blue laws couldn't have helped a hobby-related walk-in business like this, either.

They were actually open on Sundays. And believe it or not, they weren't too boutique at all. They had excellent prices and beautiful, healthy plants and a great selection to boot. They started carrying more livestock towards the end....mostly nano fish. I actually really liked this store and am sad to see it go. They were good guys working in there.

Hey Dave, do you know exactly where they are moving to off 17? If they are going to open to the public every now and then, I know a bunch of people who would want to go. I have John's cell phone number (one of the owners), but they never pick up.

I'd certainly visit as well. I've tried calling and emailing to no avail.

i absolutely loved going and taking people to this store. It was a hidden gem in my honest opinion. I like dealing with both John and Peter. they were not shy about talking about the livestock, ada products and other aquaria topics. though ridgewood is a tad far for many of us coming from the 5 boroughs, i never failed to leave the shop empty handed. This is one store i am sad to see close but hope they can continue to bring products to the local area shops.

From everything I am hearing, they may open their new spot to the public once or twice a month.
