For the plant's sake, they are able to use the 10,000k side of the light, meaning they are getting about half the wattage from the bulb.

Any light you choose to put in the tank between 3,000k and 12000k will work fine. I really like the hue the GE 9325K bulbs emit. Do a search to see what they look like, there is a good thread over on APC about them. AGA 8,000K look similar, and I just ordered one of those to try out.

i have a 2x t-8 17w 8000k bulb.. will those work?
i will switch bulbs in the other fixture. just wondering..
