If you keep an eye on Craigslist you can easily get a good deal on something larger than a 55gal. FWIW 2.5' is also plenty large enough for even a 90gal, they are only 18" wide. I think I saw a good deal on a 75gal setup in your area a few days ago?

You'd better have plenty of time if you get juvie discus. Try 50% daily PWC and feedings 5x/day. Adults don't need as frequent feedings and tend to be less delicate. Personally I'd save your money for adults b/c you're more likely to save money in the long run by being more successful with them.

I also wouldn't buy discus from an LFS, but yours in Boca may be better than mine in Naples.
