warm water plecos taht eat algae are hard to come by. at least i don't know any that comfortable like temps in the low to mi 80s like the discus would like. however, the bushy noses are quite resilient and would probably survive in temps in the low 80s and high 70s. however, the problem with this is that the temp is a bit low for discus and a bit high for ur pleco. what you end up doing is stressing out both species and shorten the life span. u could try ottos as well but again same thing with the temperature. ottos are quite sensitive as well so u'll probably end up having more dead ones then live ones. i'm not saying it's impossible to keep discus with plecos but i can't think of any algae eating ones that would tolerate cooler temps readily. many of the carnivorous plecos would enjoy a nice low 80 temp. if u dont' want plants then the common pleco would do ok with the low 80s. he wont' be comfortable but my experience is those guys will live through almost anything but of course the issue of size comes into play when u go with those guys.
still if i really wanted discus i would probably do a discus and bushy nose. many will disagree saying that bushy noses need cooler waters but those guys are pretty darn hardy and with proper acclimation and planting both species can live a fulfilling life around the low 80s (although i dont' think the bushy noses will be at their full potential)
