3 would be ok, if they don't pair up. if they do the 3rd one will feel the brunt of it all, 5 is one thing, but 3 isn't a good idea unless they start out young.
You could add more cories, shouldn't be much of a problem. I have cories and bns together in all my tanks. Black skirts should be fine, but if it isn't what you want, I wouldn't do it. If you don't mind having fry and part of them surviving get the livebearers.
