I use Morning Glory Premium Polyester Fiberfil 20 oz. bag from Walmart and it lasts a long time and is cheap. I get it from Wal Mart in the fabric fabric section. I stuff this stuff in my canister filter etc.
They also have 2 inch thick mats which I also use for different applications.
