Saved from a buddy's pool at the beginning of summer. Have had it in a planted tank outside, but wife does not want it inside, which will be a problem as winter comes... so looking to find a new home for it where someone will enjoy it as much as I have.
Mainly seems to be nocturnal. in my heavily planted tank, it's usually difficult to find it during the day, but at night he always seems to be towards the front.
Eats anything big enough for it to grab, seems to be able to catch feeder goldfish better than feeder danios.
Make sure its home has a secure lid, as these bugs can fly, although I've never seen this one out of the water other than when we caught it, and it was crawling, not flying.
These things can get huge. I used to be an exterminator and would find them in excess of 8" from pincer to butt. They can survive many hours out of the water, similar to a frog, and during the night time do like to come out of the water.
