I am a member. Will likely be at most meetings. By all means bring stuff for the mini auctions! I try to bring plants when I can, and will hopefully be bringing a school of orange chela if I can catch them breeding again!
I've stopped in for a meeting or two. Good speakers for the ones I was at. Friendly people too. My schedule was too busy last year to commit to the club, but I may consider it this year... assuming I can make the meetings.
I usually feel kind of guilty using the quick reply... my replies are rarely quick.
The only thing that seemed a bit odd was that the average age of the members seemed rather high... kinda felt like my church, lol.
This is a problem across pretty much all clubs. I think the big thing is getting us younger folks involved and active in the clubs. Let's face it, participating in an online forum is easy since you are able to participate on your own schedule. If more of us (read: younger fish/planted tank keepers) take an active role in out local organizations it's feasible they can survive beyond the lifespan of their founding membership, and we might actually learn something in the process.
Absolutely. After being in the hobby for over ten years and this being the first club I've gone to, I wish I knew about them sooner! It's invigorating meeting up with other hobbyists in person. Not to mention the older generation has as much to learn from us as we do from them I'm sure.
Sorry we missed this month! We will definitely try next month. My daughter may come, she is 19. Guess I would qualify as older lol. It varies. I love the yearly auction, and the speakers are usually pretty good.
Hope to hit the next one, since we live right near there.
