Waltham MA Resident looking to get started

Hi everyone! I just moved to the area and I'm looking to really get started in the planted tank realm. I have a 54 gallon bow front that currently houses angel fish and I have been building it with the idea of making it heavily planted. I have a few small grass type plants in it right now and I'm waiting on aquiring a nice light for it to expand that. Right now all i have is a 6700K compact florescent single bulb on there so I don't think thats going to be enough. I also have a 10 gallon "grow out" tank for plants that houses a few shrimp.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to get plants locally or inverts or anything?? I'm too new to the area to know anything about it so any help would be great!

Well, Tropical Isle in framingham will have absolutely everything you need for a planted tank. But you will lose your shirt buying it all from them. The advice there is also...questionable...depending who you speak to.

Go check it out though.

Welcome to the area, I'm out of Melrose
For plants, I usually get them from the Swap n shop.
As for inverts, LFS that have them Boston Pets in Peabody, Skiptons in Peabody, & as previously mention Tropic Isle.
For inverts on this forum I'd contact Leo1234, he has a nice selection of dwarf shrimps and relatively local (lynn).
