Default thanks Overfloater!

I just wanted to say thank you, I was immediatly able to find several reasons as to why the Goldfish and tropicals are not compatible. I am planning to remedy this asap. Again thank you. Man I am a nub

For those who may not know why, I quickly was able to find several pages all saying several similar things to these statements.

"Most Tropical Fish prefer to live in water with a temperature between 75 and 80 degrees F."

"Goldfish do best in water that is about 65 degrees F"

"Tropical Fish and Goldfish eat different foods, and Goldfish can not properly digest Tropical Fish Food."

Interestingly though, that tank has been stable for several years now
The ammonia i am not worried about, because the tank (45g) has two, 40 gallon power filters running with activated carbon.
