Like I said, someone must be buying what he is selling, because he keeps coming back. But just in case anyone here is confused, I was surprised to see single, small portions of plants, esentially vacuum packed in plastic. JMO, but I never saw anything packaged that was that was worth antwhere near the asking price.
In contrast, the couple from WI have a commercial operation growing pond plants and grow aquaria plants in the off season. And the little guy with a beard has decades of experience, and has some crupts I have never seen elsewhere, all for decent prices. Hint, buy the smaller cheaper ones - crypts tend to melt and they'll get bigger soon enough.
Unless you are completely setting up a new tank or something, I've found that the neighborhood of $50 is a decent amount to bring and spend. You can get a considerable amount of fish, food, and plants for that, and the limit keeps you from just picking up everything that attracts your eye. The toughest thing is to decide what to get and what not to.
If you want a huge piece of driftwood or something, you might want to bring more. Danger - the hotel has an ATM machine...
