Hi all - saw these at Fish Planet in Deerfield this past weekend. Various colors including black. Just amazing to stand there and watch all the colors move around!
Just went over there last week. I don't recall the prices but I recall they had the Silane shrimp neos: snowball, painted fire reds, red rilli, green jade, black rose, blue velvet, yellow golden back (few - might be gone).
looks like mostly females. so i guess they wont have any problems hanging out? they really do look awesome all together...
I had ordered red cherry and yellow not realizing i shouldnt mix them. had to break down the tank to catch them all and separate them... lesson learned...
Definitely cool to have a diverse colorful group. Sucks that interbreeding Neo colors will mainly produce wild types.
But if you are an advanced shrimp keeper, you can keep a mixed tank of varying color Mischling shrimp (Caridina, so they are harder to keep). They not only have color, but patterns too so it gives a unique individual feel since you can identify the shrimp easier. You can mix in various other types of Caridinas as well. And it's exciting to see what variety of shrimp are produced (you can even produce some rare expensive shrimp!). They don't throw out wilds like Neocaridina do.
