I'll say hi for you tattooed. I have yet to make my flight arrangements but I might be arriving at 8 am.. So plant swap might be possible! Planning on going to a cubs game while I'm there and doing the standard museum aquarium etc rounds... When I'm not working that is.
I'm hoping I can meet up with matt13 and get some rams from him, but I have yet to reach out to him.
You know, I wouldn't have considered myself blessed with an abundance of fish clubs until I tried to look up info on Chicago clubs..

Hi Chicago! I'm going to be in you in late sept. (22-27/29)
I saw there was a plant swap planned, and was wondering if there were any meetings or LFS's I should know about during my stay.
I would recommend hitting up Old Orchard Aquarium. I would say a mix of 50/50 salt and fresh. Nice decent sized tank when you first walk in with a bunch of plants. I believe they also had a 2nd tank filled with plants as well. Old Town Aquarium was small but the people knew their stuff and they had a nice selection of plants and fish. Worth a stop just to check out. New Fish is mostly salt, but they do carry a variety of plants and fish and about 25/75 fresh/salt. If you can make it out into the suburbs at all during your stay, I would hit up Aquarium Adventure. Decent plant selection (they get their shipments on Thursdays so go on a Friday) and about 75/25 fresh/salt.
If you are in town early enough on Sept 22nd, I would highly recommend hitting up the GCCA (doors open at 10am). Fish breeders (mostly cichlids), aquatic plants, equipment, tanks, driftwood, manzanita, etc. Well worth the $5 entry fee!
