Unhappy good God the flood - who made it to work today?

I commute from Wheaton to Park Ridge and good googley moogley my commute SUCKED this morning.

They really need to shut down the freight trains when things are this bad, they make everything 10x worse.

The shutdown of Irving Park just south of Ohare is what killed me.

anybody else? (or are you still in your car? lmfao)

Elgin to Alrlington Heights was OK if you take Golf Rd all the way in. If the rain picks up again this afternoon, that may not be the case tonight - the water level was very close to the road surface.

A few people in the office took 2 hours or more to make it in, but I had my usual 40 minute commute.

thankfully the rain hasn't resumed yet - but I see some clouds over there! i can't imagine things getting too much worse and us still functioning. i'm dreading trying to find my way home. The Irving Park closure south of Ohare hasn't shown up on any maps. I hate to think it was shut down unneccesarily - that really screwed me this morning. they handled it pretty poorly too, letting us all go almost all the way down that road before turning us around with no choice but to go all the way back to York... which of course the return, westbound side of the road was bumper to bumper with everybody else that was forced to U-turn... grrrr!

The Des Plaines ALWAYS floods. Those people with houses on the riverside should have learned that you'll be swimming in it every single year.

Fox river is very high as well - An island park that Elgin created past the dam was completely submerged this morning.

I made it in just fine as usual... But I only live 5 minutes away from work :-)

The DuPage is flooding and parts of the local forest preserve and dog park are flooded. I saw someone driving through a flooded frontage road X-D

It wasn't too bad out when I got off of work though so I went for a jog!

I wasn't on here for a couple weeks, but I reside in Woodridge and m inlaws in Lisle. I had them with me for 9 days, and my commute to Wood Dale was actually awesome with all the rain. Well...at least until i got off the highway.

Took me 4 hours to travel what should have taken 20 minutes! All of the highways were shut down and all other side roads were closed, so i had to wait on the freeway for hours until finally being able to turn around and just go back home! When i got home i helped my neighbors clean their basement with almost a foot of water in it, then help sandbag peoples houses near my local creek down the block. The backyards of peoples houses their was the river, and the street was also now part of the river.
