It is mostly cichlids since its the Greater Chicago Cichlid Association, but there are other fish as well. Once they post the vendor list and room layout, I will make sure to post it on here for everyone to take a look at.

I've gotten bettas, Cory cats, shrimp, misc equipment, etc from there. But there is a lot of cichlids. Hope this helps

HA!

There's a few of us who sometimes meet up before the doors open to the swap and chit chat in the parking lot. Keep an eye on the Parking Lot Swap thread to see if anyone is going to arrive early

There is a guy at the swap who is a local breeder. His name is Jim Nowobielski.
I got six Boesmane Rainbows from him at the swap in November. They were cheap and I have to say, beautiful. I just got 15 Green Aneus Corys from him for $30.00. Super healthy and active. If youre looking for Rainbows or Corys, this is the guy.

went there today for One item…. $89.00 later …. I really like that place. The owner is a super nice and knowledgable guy. Really nice plants, decent quantity, very good quality, and some interesting fish like Archer fish and halfbeaks. Great coral at good prices. He also stocks Finnex lights. Almost left with a 48" Fugeray planted Plus. ( only had $100.00 with me and I now leave the CCs at home when I go to the fish store ). He also carries live blood worms.

I live in Deerfield and have patronized Fish Planet for a few years since starting my planted tanks. They key is to go there when Steve, the owner, is present. He can pretty much answer any question but I continue to try to stump him regardless. Sells live blood worms and brine shrimp that he receives every Tues/Wed. Now carries all the Finnex LED lights but not always in stock (he can order it - he is doing it for me right now - and can get it in a week). He will rent you a PAR meter if you're wondering about light levels in your tank. If you like plecos - check it out here - because he is particularly fond of them and will get unusual and hard to find ones that I have never seen at other LFS (and I have been to most of them in the Chicagoland area). Steve has dedicated tanks for plant displays and sales as more and more customers seems to be asking for plants (yes!). Worth the drive to Deerfield because you'll have such a good time.

He sells live blackworms, not bloodworms. I was there today for some to tide me over till the next swap.

picked up some really beautiful Apistogramma cacatuoides 'Yellow' today. They are really more of a yellow/pale with a deep purple top. Every time i go in this place he has something i have never seen before. Highly recommend!
