TBAS, I know there are breeders up there. You could probably get the same fish in the stores from the same source before they go through all that stress, plus you can trace the lineage of your fish and be more secure that they'll be a strong strain, which IMO is very important if I'm spending that kind of money.
Just make sure your KH and GH are consistent with soft water, forget pH, too many other factors involved that have nothing to do with soft vs hard water.
