I am from Michigan and interested in terrestrial mosses found growing on branches locally in Hawaii. I would like to use it in a Geosesarma sp (terrestrial rainforest crabs) 20g vivarium setup. I believe it is legal to collect as long as it is growing on private property and not public or state land. I would of course pay priority usps shipping and a reasonable compensation. Just looking for tropical mosses/lichens/etc. and possibly moss covered twigs/sticks. RM-DG-birds-307.jpg
If interested just shoot me a PM!

Hah! That's pretty crazy. I knew that all those mosses are naturally terrestrial species but can be grown in water as well. However those aren't the types I was looking for. I'm looking for something a little different I suppose, as I already grow flame, xmas, singapore, peacock, and java in my own tanks.
I was hoping to get my hands on something like the picture attached to my original posting. Some non aquatic moss, preferably epiphytic- growing on sticks or small twigs.
I didn't realize that some of the mosses growing there were commonly found in the aquarium trade.
I may be visiting my brother there in a few months anyhow. He is going to be stationed there with the coast guard. Maybe I will hand pick some up then!
