This is true ONLY if you have more than 1 male. If you limit things to 1 male and make the rest of the Gouramis females then you should be absolutely fine. I personally have 3 Golds in my 60 and they are fine, I have 1 male and 2 females. IME, Females are not aggressive towards each other or the males. Now, if you are talking Pearl Gouramis then multiple males would be fine but still recommended to be in a group of 6. Besides, 4 of the gouramis happen to be of the Dwarf variety and they are usually not aggressive at all. The problem I've had with Dwarf Gouramis is that they are quite sensitive and don't seem to last very long.
