All the petstores I know of around here suck...most hardly ever get plants in and the plants they have(which is usually hornwort or anacharis) look awful. The only shrimp they carry are feeder shrimp.
How far do I have to drive to hit a good petstore?
I am in Jacksonville as well.. Neat to see others from this same area. Best store I think I have found is Aqua Zoo off SR13, none of them have a decent plant selection though at all! Let us know if you find any!!

There in nothing near Jacksonville for good plants. AquaZoo has a fair selection of FW fish. Ocean Reef in Neptune Beach has very good SW/Reef selection. AquaZoo also has a second and smaller store on Beach Blvd at the intersection of San Pablo.
For plants you are limited to buying online or trading. Hey, we've almost got enough people for a small plant club and plant swapping meeting.
i live in saint augustine and we have doodly-squat for an LFS here...only petco and 1 mom-n-pop fish store that deals mainly in marine fish. i made the ride up to aqua zoo and it was worth the trip! i left with 40 bucks worth of cichlids and a burning desire to have won the lotto before i went! jeez i could spend some money in there. you're right about plants...nobody has a decent selection. i've been using aquabid to get a few plants, but it would be nice to have a local source. i just set up a plant growout tank and so far have hornwort, moneywort, glosso and l. repens going. i'd be interested in getting more varieties going as well.
Steve, what you need to do is band together in a club or whatever, and then go to these stores as a group and let them know you are interested in buying plants. Even ask if your club can meet at their store. That is the only way these stores will respond, the better ones.
The stores with the biggest plant selections in the country are all where there is a local plant club that supports them. That should be the first priority of all these new plant clubs starting up. Get involved with the local stores.
