Subwassertang

I have a baseball sized portion of Subwassertang leftover from what I ordered. $5 for local pickup. If nobody responds I'll consider shipping.

Edit: Free Frogbit if you pickup too

If no one else claims it I am interested in swinging by and picking it up.

I picked up some of this at the CAS meeting last Friday (via the mini auction they have at the end of every meeting). I got a piece about 4x6 for $8.

One note: This plant is called Süßwassertang where the "ß" is German shorthand for "ss." So the correct US spelling of this plant is "Susswassertang."

I hope this one does well after my 30 second bleach treatment. It looks like it's browning slightly after 3 days. We'll see. My moss ball is nearly dead after a 1 min bleach treatment, but I figure that dead plants are better than snails or new algae horrors!

Susswassertang is one of those plants that can take a long time to adapt to new parameters. It doesn't actually die off but it just sort of stalls out for a while and once it is adapted to the new water conditions it takes off and grows.

That is the experience that I have had with it. I got some really good susswassertang from a reliable source and tossed it in my tanks and it never looked 'bad' but it just sat there for a couple of months and then one day I noticed that it was starting to spread.

Good to know; thanks!

Mine is sorta doing the same thing - just sitting there. We'll see...

I forgot about this thread. I had a taker at my door within two hours and forgot all about it. As to the plant, I honestly thought it was fake grass from an easter basket until I felt it. On Aquabid there was an auction for "Hopper O' Subwassertang" for a dollar. So what the heck, I bid on it. I only needed a golfball size portion and got a bag literally bigger than a large grapefruit. About the size of one of those miniature watermelons. I guess the person I gave it too threw the whole ball in a BB shrimp tank.
