I found this today: http://www.google.com/search?q=theSA...ient=firefox-a I suppose this would increase our "hits" count if we use that internet address.

Looks like I will be starting the mineralized topsoil substrate process as well as DIY Co2 this weekend. Man, when I get into something I really get into it! I will be working my way into an actual Co2 setup in the near future, though.

With rainy weather coming I might be doing it mostly in my garage and using a fan to help dry it out in a thin layer on a tarp. We have plenty of floor space there. If I see it is warm and sunny outside i'll set it out on the driveway for a while. But technically, all you need is the tub you mix it in. You can let is dry in the tub, it will just take much longer.

Went to a couple places here in Woodland to get some top soil for the process and neither place had just plain real top soil. I also need a couple handfuls of pot ash and dolomite if anyone local has any, I haven't found any of either of those but from what I can tell both come in packs of more than i'll ever use in a few lifetimes for this process.

Haha, just go to a rice paddy near you, you are literally surrounded by them, bring a bucket and shovel. Dig, add to bucket, take home.

This is similar to the ADA AS sold...........

It's also mineralized and should not take long to prep.
I run it through a 1/4 wire mesh screen and let settle for a day, then decant off the water, then allow to dry to thick pasty clay, then use.

Regards,
Tom Barr

Where can we access a rice paddy and not get in trouble?

Should we worry about parasites or bugs? If so, will the drying process deal with those?

Would we need the dolomoite, clay or pot ash?

And can we get a mod to split these questions into their own topic in a different forum so we do not continue to hijack this thread? :P
