I really enjoyed the presentation and it got me totally interested in trying CO2!
Thank you everyone for all the plants, the shrimps and the goodies! Ray is sooo much more interested already now that he has plants and shrimps for his first tank (as an adult, he had a tank as a kid), and he's just loving that he got to get such cool books!
We will definitely have to give back! BTW, I grabbed the rest of the stuff that was left on the table - I will bring it to the next meeting to put on the table! Just felt wrong to walk out and leave it as we and one other person were the last ones to leave!
On a side note, even though this location is a little farther from my house, and I had no issues with the one by land park...its actually very nice. And we can close the door UNLIKE the other location where we can hear everyone and everything.
Alyssa is right. I am more interested now than ever.
I enjoyed learning about Co2 and think that is the route I want to take. I did record audio of the presentation on my Droid to refer back to if needed and the audio pretty decent. If anyone wants it to refer back to as well I am sure I could find a way to copy it for you.
Anthony, you pointed out someone in the group to talk to about Cichlids. Could you refresh my memory as to who that was or point me to him on here?
The meeting was great. I like it. The co2 presentation was also very interesting. I learn a lot from it as well. Thanks to everyone for the plants, shrimp, book. I'm looking forward for the next meeting.
Save this and read this maybe 3-4 times all the way through. It is a really good article.
You can search various how to measure CO2 threads and just ask around. I'm not a big fan of the drop checker, some folks find them useful, I find them unless. But after 20 years........but even when I started, Dupla had the drop checker also.
Indeed, it was a great meeting and we had a great turnout. I already have the room held for us next month. I just followed the lead on the 1st Wednesday of the month.
Thanks again Tom for the co2 talk. Each time I pick up something new (70ppm hint hint). I went home last night and tossed and turned for hours thinking about co2 and my tanks. 2 redbulls later and I'm ready for work this morning haha.
It's only the morning after and I already can't wait for the next. I will probably be more social next time
I just saw Anthony's avatar and it reminded me of how I have been spending a lot of time over the last week - just sitting in front of my small tank watching my fish and as of last night the shrimp. Those little buggers are much faster and more animated than I expected.
I never expected a hobby to have so many bugs to be bitten by, so to speak. The fish of course, then after last night I was seriously bitten by the Co2 and plant bug.
Great meeting! Thanks to Tom for giving a good presentation on CO2.
I hope folks enjoy their new ricefish, shrimp, and plants.
Get ready for next time - I'm doing a demonstration on tank backgrounds, including Amano-style light gradients and this "shadowbox" thing that's all the rage in the reef world...all with materials that are easy and cheap to find in Sacramento.
