Around the part from Oakland to Milpitas? And I seriously do not know if there are any welding shops nearby.

This one is in San Jose:

Carbonic Service
1920 De La Cruz Boulevard
Santa Clara, CA 95050

I've never been there so I can't tell you their rates or hours. But there are a few San Jose folks on the board that probably can.

Thanks. Now where can I find a decent priced Milwaukee or JBJ regulator? I know Aquaforests has one but I beleive its more expensive than the net.

$13 for a 10lb refill? I go to a place in Citrus Heights(Sacramento) and they charge $22-23. Too bad its not worth the drive to save $10.

All you got to do is look in the phone book. When I lived in San Jose there were four of them. Two in downtown a block from each other. There must be a ton of them around Oakland.

Freshwater since 2002. Current tank: 125G planted. Fish: 8 clown loaches (several 5-6"), 5 yoyo loaches, 2 B.N. Plecos, 1 rainbow shark, and many rummy-nose tetras.

Not to steal the tread or anything, just some relevent questions.

What is a reconditioned tank?
Are the cylinders from beveragefactory.com hydrotested?

I might get a 5lb from bf.com for $60 shipped, and then get it filled and tested at hansons to come to a total of $72 for a new, filled, & tested cylinder.

Does hansons fill on the spot or do they swap out?

Thanks in advance.

Reconditioned just means used, but it still is certified. How long before the next hydrotest depends on the tank in question since the certs are good for 5 years.

Hansens refills on the spot so no tank swaps. So long as the tank you bring in still has a valid hydrotest date they'll fill it for you.

FYI, they do hydro tests for ~$12, but you have to leave the tank overnight.

Im getting a tank from Coast Fire & Equipment, they are in livermore, but the guy comes down to a local location often so it works ok great. 75$ for a 10lb reconditioned tank.

I know this is a really old thread but am wondering if folks have suggestions (after 8 years have marched on) as to where to get some CO2 in the East Bay (I am in Fremont)? I don't have a tank yet.

I called Airgas , and it was about ~$190 for a 20lbs tank filled and then $55 for an exchange.

I tried the folks quoted below but a reconditioned tank is now $210 -- although refills were cheaper at $25 I believe.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

I just bought a used 5# tank from a SFBAAPS member in Fremont. I think there was some other folks also selling CO2 tanks. Try posting there first. In the past I've purchased empty tanks online, and get them filled at Carbonics Services in Santa Clara. They charge around $20-ish for a 5# tank.
