Hey everybody - thanks for that input. I just picked up a 20# tank from Craigslist. Will call around to see about a refill exchange. I think I should be able to get it for less than $30. Appreciate it.

Neptune and any More Flavor brewing stores charge around $20 for an exchange.

I never knew they exchanged co2 tanks, good to know since most refill/exchange places are closed on weekends

So other than going to Neptunes aquatics in Milpitas, is there a place to get CO2 tanks refilled in the tri-valley east bay area? Is the Hansen Fire equipment place in San Leandro still the cheapest?

$95 for a filled refurbished 5lb CO2 tank, $150 for a brand new 5lb.

I tried for weeks to get a refurbished one but kept striking out.

Looks like amazon has a new 5lb aluminum tank for $65.70 shipped if you have Prime. If it'll cost $30 or less to refill the tank then that's the same cost but you get a brand new shiny tank vs refurb.
I'm in Dublin and there's actually an airgas store like 5 minutes from my house. Going to call them tomorrow and see if they fill co2 tanks or if its exchange only and pricing to fill a 5 lb tank.

Called Airgas in Dublin today and the guy I talked to said that it would be close to $50 to exchange a 5lb tank!
Called Hansen's and they said it would be around $25 to refill it.
Going to make a trip out to San Leandro tomorrow.

Let me know what happens. I live down the street from there. They told me a 5lb refill was $15.

Went to Hansen's yesterday and got my tank filled. Total cost was $23.30 for a 5lb tank. Asked the friendly lady working there how much it would cost to fill a 10lb tank and it was only like $5 more, haha.

Going to be trolling craigslist for a 10lb tank. Unfortunately 20lb tank is too big.
