That's good to know Shalu! Anyone know if they have smaller sizes like say 10lbs. 50lbs is a lot.

No they don't, but working with these ferts everyday at work I can always spare a pound or so. Maybe the next SFBAAPS meeting I can bring some left overs. The other option is to gather your plant friends and split a bag.

The only thing that they don't carry is KH2PO4 (I called to check), but 50lb of that would surely last someone a lifetime.

And I hope all you bay area residents who haven't already joined SFBAAPS will visit the website (www.sfbaaps.com) and become members. A better group of planted tank hobbiests you will not find!

I'm just waiting for my current supply to run out before I head on out there to grab a bag of each. $30 for enough ferts to last a long while.

Definitely check out SFBAAPS if you haven't already.

Not to change the subject, but when/ where is the next meeting. I'd like to check it out and perhaps bring a few trimmings.

Question

Okeedokee! Just emailed a joining request to the treasurer!

So, just to clarify, the group doesn't meet regularly but has cool speakers?

SFBAAPS is a very informal organization. We don't have a set meeting schedule, but rather members will volunteer to hold an open house. We try to do this monthly, as a way for the members to show off their tanks, but more to just socialize and put faces to names. In the months that no one volunteers we try to meet at some public place. We've had meets a Temescal Cafe in Oakland as well as a Roundtable Pizza in San Jose.

The end of each meet is a plant swap session where members bring their clippings fpr exchange with the group. On most occasions we'll end up with several pounds of plants leftover that are either taken to a LFS, or unfortunately, disposed of.

If by cool speakers you mean that there are some very experienced members that are worth listening to, then yes. Even the fabled Tom Barr is a member who makes the trek in from Sacramento on occasion.
