I have finally decided to purchase pressurized CO2 system and figure that getting a CO2 tank locally should be cheaper. I live in bay area, zip code 94578, so I called airgas in San Leandro to get an idea how much it'll cost. The person at airgas told me it would cost over $150 for the empty tank, about $25 fill with CO2 and plus tax. It seems pretty expensive to me. Does anyone know local store that sell around 5 lbs CO2 tank and do refills other than airgas? Is buying CO2 tank online a cheaper option?
My guess is that you can find a 5lb tank cheapest locally, and a 20lb tank cheapest online. Check both Evilbay and Aquariumplants.com and you should find 20lb tanks in the $120 range.
I paid just udner $70 delivered for a new shiny aluminum 5lb co2 tank from learn2brew, they seem to be about the same price with the difference of a few bucks.
