It is unfortunate. Having said that, does anyone have a small heater I can buy - we're talking tiny here...only a 1.5G tank lol.

How about RCS?

Petfun has gotten a lot better. I don't know if that is due to new management or just new policies. My problem with them in the past was with placing a special order. After getting the run around from them about the arrival of my order, which included the supervisor, I decided to drive to the store only to find my order on display and for sale (they didn't stock those prior to my order). There were other issues with them in the future with regards to customer service. I stopped by not too long ago and saw a lot of new faces there which were in general nicer and more knowledgeable than the people they had in the past.

If you don't mind driving up to Watsonville, there is Tropi-quarium which has fish that look pretty healthy. They're a little pricy however.

I'm a newborn aquarist [retired reefer].I found a great small shop in Salinas called "Oceans Above".They specialize in salt but do have quality merchandise [no plants or fresh fish yet] and are truly knowledgeable. If your willing to take a short drive "Neptunes Aquatic" in Milpitas is unsurpassed in plants, fish, inverts and equip selection.I would venture to say they stock nearly all "The Planted Tank" sponsers equipment.Their staff is extremely devoted to our hobby. Its worth the drive just to see their show tanks.

Been there once shortly after they opened Like you said, all salty.

And unfortunately, these days "quality merchandise" can be had for much cheaper online.

I realized that I dropped off of this thread and that was quite rude of me. I'm still here, south of Santa Cruz (Capitola to be exact). Thanks for all the help and offers. I decided to part with my 1.5G but recently set up a Fluval Spec V which i'm enjoying. I may be on the market for RCS - this time more legitimately - but I'll refrain from asking and wasting good peoples' time until I'm absolutely ready.

Thanks again!
