Thin leaves on Amazon Sword?

Can anyone identify what type of nutrient deficiency would cause my Amazon Sword to have very thin and almost see-through leaves. If this keeps up my Amazon Sword is going to start looking like a Madagascar Lace plant lol

Thanks for any responses.

I'd like to know as well, I have 3 small Amz. Swords and only one of them is showing this behavior. I don't dose ferts, but there are O+ tabs around the swords

C02 or not enough co2 for the amount of light available.

Need photos to be sure but it sounds very much like you have a hungry pleco eating your plants at night.

I disagree with the pleco idea. I dont have a pleco, and I see the same symptoms. Try dosing excel and adding root tabs.

As I said need pictures to be sure. Your plant damage may be the same, but it may not be - you should really post pictures in your own thread if you want to figure out what is wrong. I assume you mean the ludwigia plants that aren't growing in this thread? ludwigia

Plants can have very similar symptoms and be due to completely different things based on the location of the damage and several other factors. You really need good photos and preferably pictures of many different plants showing similar symptoms to be sure what is going on.

Two things. One, Amazon Sword are heavy root feeders so starting to dose frets in the water won't help much. Two, O+ tabs can take up to a month to start working but should fix most standard deficiencies. My swords looked horrible but a month after adding the tabs they are now growing like crazy.

However, if you don't have co2 then the tabs won't help much since co2 deficiency causes the same problems as many macro and micro deficiencies, no matter how much ferts you add.

Can I use liquid Carbon (excel) in place of co2?

No, excel is not a direct substitute for CO2.

Still waiting to see pictures of the plant to give you an exact cause. Without pictures it is literally anyone's guess.
