Need a little help with my red tiger lotus, it's not growing at all. When I used to have it in my old tank it was growing nice and tall and sprouting new leaves maybe every other week. When some of the leaves got too tall, I would trim it out leaving the shorter ones room to grow.
However, when I upgraded to my new 40B with dirt + pfs substrate, my other plants are growing well except for the lotus. I used to have 3 in the old tank, but 2 have died and the remaining one doesn't seem to want to grow since I moved it. It is small and compact, I don't see any new growth, just sits there. I would think that with the nutrient rich substrate, it would get a nice kick.
Lighting is 3-13W CFL on a 5-4-5 schedule, I'm dosing daily with liquid CO2 and 1/3 KNO3 and CSM+B (1x week). My other plants are doing well, and algae is under control - very little and manageable with a scraper
Should I give it time or did I screw up with the trimming?
Not sure about the Lotus, but many of the bulb plant's undergo dormant time during part of the year, and bloom once again later in the year, assuming that they have stored nutrient's in the bulb.
If bulb appear's all shriveled up,,I might replace the plant.
