Strong floating plant suggestions?

Whats up everyone, ive lurked here for a while but this is my first post.

Ive got a 45ish gallon hex tank ive got planted, im running a 250 watt MH on it right now, I just added the light a few days ago, i used to be floating myrio but now it looks like the week after christmas, needles all over the tank.

So im looking for something that wont die under that light up top. Im dosing with flourish excel daily, substrate is about a 2 inch base of eco complete with 40 pounds of sand on top that i worked into the eco complete the best i could, so basically a 2 inch top coat.

heres some pictures of the tank its been running almost 2 weeks, about 4 days on the halide. im still kinda learning what works and what doesnt as far as plants go.

Is the MH raised at all? Frogbit or duckweed will grow in just about any tank...

it hangs about 10-12 inches over the water. im afraid of duckweed because i run an overflow box, i never looked into frogbit though, it looks like what i want. I was wanting something that my gouramis could lurk under

also excuse my sloppy planting. I planted everything then let the girlfriend help me add water :p

Hornwort is another great option, grows very quickly like frogbit too. I think larger frogbit looks much better than the immature stuff.

Agreed. I got some off aluka, and h4n in the last week, and i'm impressed.

The bigger stuff. It's got a felty/suede feel to it

I'm not into the image, but into the hobby...

+ 1 for Frogbit. It has taken off pretty quickly in my low-tech tank. I really like the look of its low hanging roots. My shrimp and even some pond snails manage to make there way up to the surface to hang on to the roots.
