Splitting Eriocaulon cinereum

Is this how you split an erio cinereum??? I never thought you have to chop off almost all the leaves. I thought you basically chop the plant in half and cut off the flowers but I felt like he is trying to kill the plant, lol.

"Splitting" occurs naturally. I have no idea what they're doing in that video.

Cutting off all of the leave like that will not kill the plant, as long as it has enough energy reserves stored up in the crown (which a healthy plant will). Trimming off the leaves like that will just encourage the growth of new leaves.

If you ate or wore clothes today, thank a farmer
