Ceraptoteris thalicroides strange behavior

My Ceraptoteris is behaving strangely. After suffering in several days of heat wave 29+ C in my tank (the tank normally runs at 25-26 C) the leaves grow much more roots (yes... roots coming out of the leaves!) and they broke off from the mother plant. It keeps doing that at 27C (temp control not repaired yet). Is this normal? I know that it is the way it propagate through plantlets, but it looks so bizzare. There are so many leaves doing this all at once and now they are escaping and floating everywhere (I think 60-75% of the leaves) as if the mother plant is a sinking ship and the leaves are the liveboats. The mothe plant is left nude with minimal leaves and seems like dieing.

I grabbed the bigger pieces and re-plant them. Lets see how the plantlets can grow well in higher temperature.

I have always thought of water sprite as a warm water species. Growth of my plants seem to be directly proportional to temperature and N concentration. But like you, I have noticed that stressed plants produce more plantlets than ones in constant growing conditions. I would expect the young plants to grow well for you.
