Propagation quetsion

I know for most stem plants all you do is clip and replant but what about other plants?

That's a big question, but I'll try and answer part of it. Plants such as crypts, vals, sag, and chain swords send out runners that send up baby plants. In this case you would just clip off the runners with the plantlets on them. Some of the rosette plants will divide (you'd see 2 plants tangled together at the base). You just gently untangle the 2 plants. Be careful you're not ripping it in half before it's ready. Some plants, such as the larger swords, send out flower stalks that then grow baby plants. You just wait until they have roots and clip. Plants such as anubias have a rhizome which can be cut in half when the plant is big enough.

not sure if the link will work for you, but go into the Advanced Search menu and do a search on Propagation, specifying thread titles only. There are many relevant threads pertaining to your question.

observant_imp,
Thanks, I realize that I kida left that one a little too open but you hit two out of three that I was wondering about. The third is onion plants with bulbs. Can they be propagated?

turbowagon,
I am going to give a good search about it now. Thanks for the tip!

If you go into the Advanced Search menu, there is a drop-down list where you can change the searching to "Thread titles only."

I find that feature useful for narrowing down a search to the most relevant results.
