What will happen to Java Moss if not enough light?

Hi,

I added some Java Moss to my tank a few weeks back as I was given some by a friend.

As I wasn't sure where it was going to "live" I stuck it at the side of the tank in what is probably a poorly lit position.

I'm just wondering whether poor lighting will impact this plant?

I currently have a lot of particles floating in the tank and was wondering if perhaps the Java Moss was now breaking up because it didn't have enought light?

I have moved it to a better lit position and spread it a little thinner but would like to understand what happens to the plant?

LIght is not really important to Java moss, unless it is completely off, under low light condition it turns a darker green. Put it it in better lit position and it should grows a lighter green and grow faster. Don't leave your java moss in clumps, spread them out.

Thanks for the response. Like I say, I've spead it thinner again in a better lit position.

Just wondering if it was causing me an issue but from another thread, looks like it could be a bad batch of eco complete?

Just a note, not a suggestion: My tank was ''shut down'' for about 4-6 months. It was half full of water and the light stayed off. When I got it up and running again, the java moss came back. This stuff is tough as nails!
