Aponogetons in clay pot question

I just purchased several aponogeton bulbs for my tank. Would it be okay to first plant the bulbs in clay pots and then bury the pots into the substrate of my aquarium? My thinking is to make it easier for me to remove the bulbs once they start going dormant.

Aponogetons actually need quite a bit of room to spread their roots so I would advise against potting them.

I did ok with lace plants when I used the clay saucers that people use under the pots. I was using the big ones, 8 inches across and 2 inches deep.

Aquascape? I'm a crypt farmer.

It's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot.

That IS an aquascape, it's titled "The Vacant Lot".

Any suggestions for what I might use? I like the idea of the 8" saucer.
