So I go this plant in it's bulb form from one of the Petsmart bulb packs and it took off fairly well. It's flowered several times and while reading up on it more I saw some info on propagation and that some have just had whole new plants sprout up randomly. A few weeks ago I had these guys pop up randomly, the two shown are about the same size and I've had about a half dozen more appear since these two showed up. They appeared randomly throughout the tank and I wondered if it's Aponogeton Ulvaceus and if not, could you identify what it is?
The only other thing even close are onions. Other than that there's a strain of java fern, some stem plants and pennywort. I have another that I placed into a piece of driftwood and it's grown the best by far. Here's a shot of it.
Those are aponogeton....when they first sprout the leaves are rounder and flatter instead of wavy. I bought a aponogeton bulb from petco and it flowered and weeks later I have 4 more in my tank. If you look at the floating flower stems you will see little pointy green seeds growing on them, when it is seeding.
Quite interested in the ID of this plant as I also got it in one of those bulb packs and just last night just pulled 8 sprouts out of my tank. Quite aware its an Aponogeton but which one. My family calls it the alien plant as when it was initially planted it in my tank you could literally see it grow in front of your eyes. Left to go the mall for dinner one night and return to find the surface leaf stem had grown about 2-3" in a couple of hours. It's a prolific bloomer and produces both surface leaves as well as submerged leaves which are both of different shapes.
