root ferts, room to flower
You can dwarf the bulb by putting it in an aquarium since the gravel is not so rich and not that much room for roots. You'll need to add root ferts. In general, the leaves will be somewhat smaller than the pond planted bulb, but still very large for a fish tank unless you have a large tank.
Just let the leaves all go to the surface, eventually a flower will form. Just be sure the air gap is enough to keep the flower from burning too near the hot light bulb.
