Are these crypts?

A family member got some fish, and in the bag were some little plants floating around. He gave them to me.

I'm not entirely sure what they are. They look a lot like some crypts I saw at my lfs, but they seem to have a rhizome, so I thought maybe they were java fern of some sort. But these seem to be offshoots, maybe they're not rhizomes, just thicker roots of a bigger plant.

Should I plant these or attach them to my driftwood? Thanks!

Yes, they're crypts. It's best to plop them in the substrate.
