Microsword question

I have a bit of an agae problem on my micro sword and was wondering if i could trim the leaves that have a lot of algae on them and would they grow back. I was kind of thinking of mowing them in a way could this work?

cherry shrimps will pick them very clean

Truvu 100g Flourite, wet/dry, AHSupply 302w PC, PinPoint controller
10gallon15w T6+15w T8
55gallon40w T6 ODNO4x, no CO2. Discus grow out.
10gallon Tonina tank, 2x15w T6 ODNO 4x
I will do aquascapes after I collect all the plant species and grow them to perfection.

Ottos work good too. They cleaned mine right up and love resting on the curled ends of it.
