Amazon Sword HUGE!!

I just bought a Gigantic Amazon Sword. I have never seen one this big so I am curious about some things.
There are some shoots coming out of the plant that are about 3 feet long with a bunch of little plants on them, can these be cut off and planted as starters?
I put this in my 112 gal unplanted tank. I have pretty good lighting but the substrate is just gravel. This should be ok?

Here is a picture. To get an idea of the size the tank is 5 feet long and 24" high.

I cut the plantlets off and replanted them from a compacta sword and they grew just fine. Also swords are root feeders so I would invest in a better substrate or at least a root tab under the plants.

You'll be fine cutting the plantlets off from the shoot. Just wait a bit so that they put forth some roots before you do so (helps with the younger plantlets). This will occur if they're submerged. Otherwise, the shoot will start sprouting flowers instead.
